After the resounding success of permanent brows, lip liner, lip blush, and more, a new permanent makeup technique is making waves – lash line enhancements!
While lash line enhancements have been in the market for a while, the introduction of new techniques, safer methods, and certified artists has recently brought it back to the forefront.
Lash line enhancement is one of the most creative and convenient solutions to make your eyes look more attractive by making them appear defined and your lashes look fuller.
If that has piqued your curiosity, read on to learn more about lash line enhancement and the secrets behind its growing popularity.
Understanding Permanent Lash Line Enhancement
There’s a reason why eyeliners are considered game changers. Each technique uniquely enhances your eyes, allowing you to achieve a variety of looks. When you want to make your eyes appear fuller, lifted, and deeper, applying eyeliner along your lash line—preferably in light black or brown tones—subtly enhances your eyes.
Lash line enhancement uses a similar concept, which is why it is often called an invisible liner. This procedure differs significantly from permanent eyeliner. For one, aestheticians use light black or brown pigment, which is deposited very thinly and very close to the lash line, unlike regular eyeliner. The essence of this procedure is its subtlety, making the liner nearly imperceptible to others. However, the results are almost instant.
With lash line enhancement, you achieve an immediate eye-opening effect that can make your eyes sparkle. This technique works well with both no makeup and heavy makeup looks. With no makeup, it remains subtle; with makeup, it is buildable.
Ideal Candidates for Permanent Lash Line Enhancement
It’s almost impossible to resist the urge to get lash enhancement once you learn about it. If you wish, you too can join the ranks of those with mesmerizing eyes. You’re a suitable candidate if you suffer from environmental or makeup allergies, do not have a steady hand, or have sparse lashes or alopecia.
Not-so-Ideal Candidates for Lash Line Enhancement
Unfortunately, lash enhancement is not suitable for everyone. If you have any health conditions, it’s best to consult your doctor before making an appointment. Even after receiving approval from your doctor, be sure to disclose all relevant information to your aesthetician, no matter how insignificant it might seem. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.
You are not a suitable candidate if you have any of the following conditions:
- Pregnant or nursing
- Have any kind of eye conditions including corneal disease
- Went through an organ implant
- A Pacemaker or major heart problems
- Keloid scarring
- Skin irritations or Psoriasis
- Used Accutane in the past year
- Glaucoma
- Epilepsy
- Seborrheic dermatitis
- On antibiotics
- Allergic to anesthetic
- Currently undergoing Chemo and/or Radiation (unless Doctor note)
Top Reasons to Get a Lash Line Enhancement
If you are on the fence about the procedure, here are a few more reasons to help you make a final decision:
- Lash line enhancement is a worthy investment because it lasts for up to 5 years.
- The ultra-thin line close to your lashes gives the appearance of fuller and darker lashes, creating a natural eye-opening effect.
- It’s a great way to make your eyes stand out.
- It is extremely low maintenance.
- Lash line enhancement is suitable for people of all skin tones and hair colors. With slight adjustments in the pigment from dark black, light black, deep brown, and light brown, the procedure can truly make everyone’s eyes pop.
Preparation, Procedure, and Aftercare
Lash line enhancement can last up to 5 years. However, it can also start to fade within a year if you are not careful.
If you wish to get your money’s worth and make it last for as long as possible, you’d need to take a few measures before, during, and after the procedure.
Here’s how you can do it:
Preparations
There are certain things that you’ll need to do and avoid to ensure you face no issues on the day of your appointment.
Here’s what you need to do:
- Stop using all kinds of lash growth serums 4 weeks before your appointment.
- 2 days before your appointment, avoid pain meds, supplements, and blood-thinning medications such as aspirin, niacin, vitamin E, omega-3, biotin, nutritional shakes, ibuprofen, and Advil.
- If you have had eyelash extensions, remove them or we can! They get in the way of the lash enhancement, and you may have to postpone it.
- A day before the procedure, avoid consumption of alcohol and caffeine.
- If you also want to get a lash lift and tint, they must be done a few days before the lash enhancement procedure.
- For those who wear contacts, be informed that they’ll need to be removed at the time of the procedure
The Lash Line Enhancement Procedure
The appointment begins with a detailed consultation with your makeup artist. During this consultation, you must convey your expectations, clear any confusion, and ask any questions that are on your mind. When you are clear about your expectations, the artist can choose the right pigment and customize the technique to get the best results.
After the consultation is over, the procedure will begin with the application of a numbing cream.
Lash enhancement is usually done in two sittings. After the first one, the color fades considerably, and in the second appointment, it’s adjusted for the perfect result.
Healing & Results
Lash enhancement takes a little over a week to heal and more than a month to produce the results. During that time, you’ll have to take some precautions so that your lash enhancement lasts a long time.
- Refrain from applying makeup, especially eye makeup for a week after the procedure as it puts you at risk of infection.
- Avoid gym, swimming, and physical activities for a week
- Do not pick the scab
- Do not go for sun tanning, salon tanning, saunas, and jacuzzi for a week
- Avoid cleansing and washing the eye area for a week
